Florida DUI car insurance
A DUI changes who will look at the file. It does not change the order: you still need a policy if you are driving, and Florida still wants PIP and PDL on a registered car.
General information, not legal or insurance advice.
Put it on the first message
Providers waste the least time when the request says there is a DUI, the year if you know it, and whether a court asked for an SR-22 or FR-44. A form that looks clean and hides the conviction gets declined later.
The rest of the quote checklist still applies: cars, drivers, garaging ZIP, lienholders. The DUI is one more fact, not a reason to skip the VIN.
Do not create a lapse on purpose
People cancel because they assume the current carrier will drop them next week. Sometimes that happens. Canceling first still leaves you uninsured this week. Request the replacement, confirm a start date, then cancel. How to switch is the same sequence.
If the current policy is already gone, say that. A lapse is part of the file. Pretending it is not will not help the next carrier.
Coverages the court and the lender both care about
The state floor is still PIP and PDL. A court filing may want more. A lender may still want collision. Those are three different voices. Read the letter you were given and put the words in the notes.
Bodily injury and uninsured motorist can still be reviewed. A DUI file is not automatically “minimum only.” It is a file a provider has to be willing to write.
What this site will not do
We will not publish a list of DUI-friendly carriers. We will not invent a monthly premium for a first offense vs a second. We will not tell you the case is over because you requested a quote.
We will take the request in Miami-Dade, Orlando, Jacksonville, or wherever the car sleeps, and let a Florida provider decide if they can offer.
Questions drivers ask
Can I get a Florida car insurance quote after a DUI?
You can request one. Say the DUI and any SR-22 or FR-44 requirement in the notes. A provider who serves Florida drivers will tell you if they can write it.
Do I always need an SR-22 after a Florida DUI?
Not on every file. Some cases use an FR-44. Some letters name a different proof. Repeat the words on the paper you have. Do not guess the form.
Will my rate go back to normal after a few years?
Time on the record matters, but this site will not invent a calendar. Request a new quote when the household or the record changes. Keep coverage in force in the meantime.
Should I wait to insure the car until the court case ends?
Not if you are driving a registered car. Florida still wants PIP and PDL. Waiting is how a DUI file also becomes a lapse file.
Ready when you are
Request your Florida car insurance quote
Request a quote and write the DUI and any filing in the notes. Keep the car insured while a provider reviews it.
Submitting information is a request for a quote, not an application for or guarantee of coverage.
