What you need to request a Florida car insurance quote
Our quote request takes a few minutes on a phone. Having these details nearby means you will not have to stop halfway to dig through a glovebox.
General information, not legal or insurance advice.
About you
- Your first and last name as they appear on your license.
- A mobile number you actually check, then an email later in the request. Providers reach out using these.
- Marital status, which some carriers ask about when reviewing a request.
Where the car is kept
Florida insurers care about the garaging address, meaning where the car is parked most nights. It is often different from a mailing address.
- Street address and city.
- 5-digit ZIP code. This is the first thing we ask for because it helps route your request.
The primary driver
- Date of birth. Use the legal date on the license.
- Driver license number and the state that issued it.
- Florida licenses are one letter followed by twelve numbers. The form adds spaces for you.
The vehicle
- Year, make, and model. One vehicle per request keeps things simple.
- How the car is mainly used: commuting, pleasure, or business.
- A rough estimate of annual miles. An estimate is fine.
Your coverage preference
You will choose Basic, Standard, or Premium. Basic reflects Florida’s standard registration minimums for PIP and PDL. Standard and Premium add higher liability limits and optional coverages for review.
This is a preference, not a price. Providers use it to decide which options to show you. For the names, see Florida PIP and PDL, explained in plain English and What Florida requires to register a car.
Permission to follow up
Before you submit, you will read and accept a contact disclosure. It explains that insurance providers who receive your request may contact you about auto insurance. You can revoke that permission at any time.
What happens after you submit
- We save your request and share it with insurance providers who serve Florida drivers.
- A provider contacts you to discuss options. We do not issue policies and cannot bind coverage.
- Nothing is purchased through this website. A quote request does not create coverage or guarantee eligibility or price.
If you already have a policy
Do not cancel first. Read How to switch car insurance in Florida, then request the new quote. If a renewal letter is what brought you here, see Florida renewal went up. What to do next.
If you just moved, use Just moved to Florida?. If you are adding a person, see Adding a new driver in Florida.
Start in the metro if you already know it
The ZIP is still the first fact. These pages put the quote card next to local context: Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, Tampa Bay, Orlando, Jacksonville, or Hialeah.
Questions drivers ask
Can I request a Florida car insurance quote on my phone?
Yes. Start at the quote request with your cars, drivers, and ZIP. A provider still has to review the file and follow up. You will not get a bind from a calculator on this site.
What if I do not know which coverages to pick?
Use a preference. Basic reflects PIP and PDL registration minimums. Standard and Premium add more for review. The provider who calls can adjust after they see the household.
Do I need my VIN to start?
Year, make, and model can get the request moving. VIN is better because it tells the carrier the exact car. If you have the registration in the glove box, use it when the provider asks.
Should I cancel my old policy first?
No. Request the new quote, confirm a start date with a provider you choose, then cancel the old policy. The switch guide walks through that order so you do not have a gap.
Ready when you are
Request your Florida car insurance quote
Have your license and the car’s year, make, and model handy? That is enough to start.
Submitting information is a request for a quote, not an application for or guarantee of coverage.
